Master of Fisheries Science students, Department of Fisheries UGM, participated in the 11th International Fisheries Symposium on Wednesday and Thursday, 22 – 23 November 2023, at Novotel Future Park Rangsit Hotel, Bangkok, Thailand. The Symposium starts on Wednesday, November 22nd, 2023, started by Plenary Session with keynote speakers Patrick Sorgeloos, Sampan Panjarat, and David Little. The activity continued with an opening ceremony and group photo, followed by oral presentation session in the parallel class.
On the Symposium’s first day, Afida Sabilil Hikmah, S.Pi, presented on the Salinity Tolerance of Red Tilapia (Oreochromis Sp.) Seed from Selection-Synthetic Hybridization of Four Different Strains Using The Lc 50 Method, and Khairunnisa gave Microplastics Content in Water, Sediment, and Fish in The Ancar River, Mataram City, West Nusa Tenggara. On the Symposium’s second day, Farkhana Laily, S.Pi presented on Growth Characterization and Genetics Of Red Tilapia (Oreochromis Sp.) from the Hybridization of Three Different Strains. Theresia Adven Dea Kristiani, S.Pi gave regarding the Antibacterial Activity of Sargassum Hystrix Ethanolic Extract and Its Effect on Red Tilapia Fillet Shelf Life at Cold Temperatures. All symposium delegates were enthusiastic about participating in the oral presentation, especially during the questions and answers session.
The symposium activities closed on Thursday, November 23rd, 2023, with a Gala dinner and cultural event. Universitas Gadjah Mada presented the Rantak Dance, a traditional Indonesian dance from the Minangkabau. The performance continued with singing the song tittled Meraih Bintang together with lecturers from the Department of Fisheries UGM.
